Three Tiered Paper Suitcase Stack

Hello crafty friends! If you've followed me for some time, you may have noticed that I love making paper suitcases. They're so cute and tiny and I love how interactive they can be! So, using one of my designs, I altered the measurements to create three suitcases that vary in size from small to large. These suitcases can be stacked to create the cutest display item or gift box! So, if you'd like to learn how to make this project, keep reading!

You can find a process video and tutorial for this project HERE.

For this project we need three suitcases. The measurements for each size are as follows:

Large suitcase - One piece of paper that measures 8.25 inch by 11.75 inch | Score all four sides at 1 5/8 of an inch | Score on the 11.75 side at 5 inch and 6.75 inch
Medium suitcase - One piece that measures 7.25 inch by 10.75 inch | Score all four sides at 1 5/8 of an inch | Score on the 10.75 inch side at 4.5 inch and 6.25 inch
Small suitcase - One pieces that measures 6.25 inch by 9.75 inch | Score all four sides at 1 5/8 of an inch | Score on the 9.75 inch side at 4 inch and 5.75 inch

To assemble all of your suitcases, follow these steps:

- Turn all of the squares on your template into tabs but cutting up on their score lines to separate them from the rest of the panel. Be careful not to cut the squares off of your paper!
- Use the four outer tabs to adhere a box shape together at both ends of the template.
- Use the last two tabs in the middle of your paper to create a hinge. You can adhere these tabs to either box. Since the boxes are identical, it won't matter which one you choose.
- Close the lid of your box and you're ready to go!

For the straps of these suitcases, I used strips of paper that measured 1/2 inch by 12 inch. I then glued these around the boxes, being careful not to glue them over the opening of the box. These are faux straps (they won't actually hold the suitcases closed, they are just for decoration). Cut off any excess paper once your straps are down.

The handles of each suitcase vary slightly in size:

Large Suitcase Handle - 3/4 inch by 5 inch
Medium Suitcase Handle - 3/4 inch by 4.5 inch
Small Suitcase Handle - 3/4 inch by 4.25 inch

Once your boxes are decorated to look like suitcases, all you need to do is glue them on top of one another to create a small stack of suitcases. I prefer hot glue for this process since it dries fast and adheres well!

Then you just have to decorate!

Thank you so much for stopping by the blog today! I hope you feel inspired! Be sure to check out the video linked above for more details and a visual process on how these are made! Take care and happy crafting! See you next time!
