'Self-Love' Valentine's Mini Book with Journals

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing how I created this 'Self-Love' chipboard book just in time for Valentine's Day!

Valentine’s day isn’t just about romantic or platonic love! Don’t forget to treat yourself this holiday by celebrating all of the special things that make you, YOU. This year, I’ve decided to focus on self-love by creating a journal book where I can document affirmations, dreams, goals, and memories throughout the year.

The covers of this book are made from two sheets of medium weight chipboard that measure 4.5 x 8.5 inches. I wrapped these using patterned paper from the ‘Peaceful Heart’ collection.

To create the spine, I used a sheet of paper that measured 4 x 8.25 inches. I scored this paper on the 4-inch side at 1 and 3 inches. I then used the 1-inch tabs on both ends to adhere the spine to the inside of my two covers. Next, I added the lining to my covers; these papers measured 4.25 x 8.25 inches.

This style of book is perfect for journals! To create my journals, I used the We R Memory Keeper’s
Bookbinding Guide to add holes to three sheets of 8 x 8 inch paper that I folded in half. I stitched my journals using a simple saddle-stitch and then attached them to the spine of my book using thick, elastic cord.

For a fun statement piece, I created a heart using rolled paper flowers that I added to the cover, along with the title ‘Self Love’.

It’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day routine of life, but taking time to focus and reflect on yourself is important! So don’t forget to show yourself some love this Valentine’s Day!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog today! I'll see you next time with another fun project!
